John Terry boasts a full strength England would beat Brazil.

Despite England's 1-0 defeat at the hands of World champions Brazil in Doha, Qatar the English captain John Terry remains upbeat.

England was severley under strength with several key players missing including Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and David James.

A goal from Nilmar was enough to secure victory for Brazil but they could have scored more with Lucio hitting a post and Luis Fabiano missing a penalty against a Three Lions side missing several big names.

However, speaking to the Sunday Mirror, the England captain insisted the game was just a friendly and when it mattered the Three Lions could compete with the best teams in the world.

“We are giving them a lot of credit, but the game had friendly written all over it. It was difficult to press. I don’t think they are anything to worry about.

“Brazil are a very good side, but we have to look at our own strengths and quality. We can mix it with the best teams in the world.”

The centre back, who missed the game through injury, also declared a full strength England side would have won the game.

He boasted, “They have their weaknesses like any other side. At full strength I think we would have beaten them.

“On a different night with a few players back I think we would have really got at them.”
